CARPENTER SPORTS BUILDING (LIL BOB)
The main recreation facility on campus is the Carpenter Sports Building, more commonly referred to as the "Lil Bob." The 167,000 square-foot building was named in honor of R.R.M. Carpenter Sr., a former member of the Board of Trustees and long-time benefactor and supporter of the University. The facility first opened in 1942 and was recently renovated and updated in 2013 with the construction of a three floor strength and cardio center and lobby. The facility also offers an indoor pool, small running track, rockwall, gymnasiums, CrossFit space, workout studios, racquetball courts, outdoor turf fields, locker rooms, academic classrooms, and more. The facility received the prestigious NIRSA Outstanding Sports Facility Award in 2014.

MEMBERSHIPS
UD students and employees can access the Lil Bob recreation facility by swiping their UD ID. Memberships to the facility are also available to alumni, student/staff spouses, visiting scholars, department card holders, conferences, and Osher College Lifelong Learning Institute members for a fee.
NOTE: Students receive access to the facility by paying the Recreation portion of the student comprehensive fee. If students are not enrolled in classes during the winter or summer semesters but still wish to access the facility at those times, they must purchase access.

FACILITY RESERVATIONS
University departments and RSO groups can reserve recreation space in the Lil Bob and other locations on campus. Non-university groups can also be approved to rent recreation space by providing a University Facility Use Agreement, a Certificate of Liability Insurance naming UD as additionally insured ($5m per occurrence general liability coverage), and payment for the rental fee.
